BET+ Cancels ‘106 & Sports’ Hosted By Cam Newton and Ashley Nicole Moss After One Season

BET+ has officially canceled 106 & Sports, the sports-focused spinoff of 106 & Park, after just one eight-episode season.

The hour-long talk show, hosted by former NFL MVP Cam Newton and sports journalist Ashley Nicole Moss, premiered October 15, 2025, and was taped at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. The network confirmed it “will not produce additional seasons,” though the first season will remain available to stream across BET platforms.

Positioned as a cultural evolution of 106 & Park, the series blended sports debate with broader conversations around Black culture — from HBCU athletics to generational shifts in pro sports. Unlike the original live-audience music countdown format, 106 & Sports leaned into pre-taped segments and structured panel discussions.

The show was produced by SpringHill Studios, with executive producers including LeBron James and Maverick Carter, signaling a major investment behind the revival.

The cancellation arrives during a transitional period for BET following leadership changes after Skydance’s acquisition of Paramount’s parent company. Under new president Louis Carr, the network has emphasized a refined programming strategy centered on franchise-driven and culturally resonant content.

For Newton, whose digital sports shows and ESPN deal keep him firmly in the media space, the series marks a short-lived but ambitious television venture. Moss also continues her work in sports media through her CBS platforms.

Eight episodes in, the rebooted brand didn’t find its footing — proving once again that nostalgia alone doesn’t guarantee longevity in today’s evolving sports media landscape.
