The CW has quielty released the teaser trailer for the second season of “61st Street.” This gripping drama, starring Courtney B. Vance and Aunjanue Ellis, is set to return on Monday, July 22, at 9 pm.
“61st Street” chronicles the harrowing journey of Moses Johnson (played by Tosin Cole), a promising Black high school athlete who becomes entangled in the corrupt Chicago criminal justice system. Wrongfully accused of being a gang member, Moses finds himself at the center of a vengeful storm as law enforcement seeks retribution for the death of an officer during a botched drug bust.
The series also features Mark O’Brien, Holt McCallany, Andrene Ward-Hammond, and Bentley Green. Produced by AMC Studios, the executive team includes Peter Moffat, J. David Shanks, Michael B. Jordan, Alana Mayo, Jeff Freilich, and Hilary Salmon.
Originally airing on AMC, the series was canceled in January 2023 but later picked up by The CW. Despite numerous recent cancellations by The CW, “61st Street” was acquired due to its compelling storyline and strong cast. Season 1 is available for streaming on The CW’s website and AMC+.
Season 2 of “61st Street” premieres on The CW on July 22 at 9 pm.
