ABC has released the official trailer for 9-1-1 season 9, and the emergencies are bigger, bolder, and even reaching outer space.
The new trailer opens with the 118 responding to a wild ocean rescue when billionaire tech CEO Tripp Houser (Mark Consuelos) is swallowed by a whale while kayaking. Eddie (Ryan Guzman) dives in to save him, while Hen (Aisha Hinds) performs CPR on shore to bring him back to life.
Grateful for his second chance, Tripp decides to reward Hen by sending her on a once-in-a-lifetime space mission — a “thank you” that quickly spirals into chaos. Hen hopes to share the experience with her wife, Karen (Tracie Thoms), but Karen declines, saying Tripp “doesn’t care about serious science.” So Hen turns to her best friend Athena (Angela Bassett), who reluctantly agrees. “I can’t believe you talked me into this,” she tells Hen as they prepare for liftoff.
But things take a dangerous turn when a geomagnetic storm threatens the launch. Ignoring warnings to scrub the mission, Tripp insists on going forward, and contact with the shuttle is soon lost. Back on Earth, meteors begin crashing down on Los Angeles, leaving Station 118 to battle disasters on multiple fronts — and find a way to bring their own home safely.
Meanwhile, the crew continues to grapple with the loss of Captain Bobby Nash (Peter Krause). The season premiere, titled Eat the Rich, will see the firehouse officially renamed the Captain Robert W. Nash Memorial Station 118 in his honor.
Season 9 features returning cast members Angela Bassett, Aisha Hinds, Ryan Guzman, Kenneth Choi, Oliver Stark, Corinne Massiah, Gavin McHugh, Tracie Thoms, and Jennifer Love Hewitt, with Mark Consuelos joining for a multi-episode arc as Tripp Houser. Peter Krause will also appear in flashbacks, alongside Elijah M. Cooper as Harry Grant.
9-1-1 season 9 premieres Thursday, October 9 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, with episodes streaming the next day on Hulu.
