A24 has officially dated The Drama, a new romantic comedy starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, for April 3, 2026 — just in time for the Easter holiday weekend.
Written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli, best known for A24’s Dream Scenario, the film also stars Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, and Hailey Gates.
While details remain tightly under wraps, early word hints that the film follows a romance that takes an unexpected turn right before a wedding. And if Borgli’s past work is any indication, that twist might not be your typical rom-com detour.
Produced by Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen under their Square Peg banner, alongside Borgli and Tyler Campellone for Dilemma Films, the project marks another collaboration in A24’s growing relationship with both filmmakers.
The Drama will open opposite Illumination and Nintendo’s The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, serving as smart counterprogramming for audiences craving something more offbeat and human during the holiday weekend.
In recent years, A24 has been exploring the romance and romantic-comedy space with success — from Celine Song’s The Materialists starring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal (grossing nearly $105 million worldwide), to John Crowley’s We Live in Time with Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield, which crossed $57 million globally.
With The Drama, the studio looks ready to add another unexpected love story to its growing catalog of emotionally rich — and slightly chaotic — romances.
