Less than 72 hours after Taylor Russell quietly exited Amazon MGM Studios’ reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair, the film has found its new leading lady. Adria Arjona, known for her roles in Andor and Hit Man, is set to co-star opposite Michael B. Jordan, who is also directing the project.
Arjona joins an already impressive cast that includes Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart. The romantic heist thriller, currently in production in London, is aiming for a March 5, 2027 theatrical release.
Sources say the studio and producers were met with a wave of interest from talent eager to step into the coveted role after Russell’s departure. Arjona quickly emerged as the top choice, and a deal was closed swiftly to keep the film on schedule.
Jordan stars as Thomas Crown, a suave billionaire and skilled thief, in this modern-day reimagining of the classic 1968 film (which was previously remade in 1999 with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo). Arjona will take on the role of the intelligent and alluring insurance investigator who finds herself entangled in a cat-and-mouse game with Crown—one that blurs the lines between duty and desire.
The film marks a major creative swing for Jordan, who continues to expand his footprint as both a leading man and a behind-the-camera force, following his directorial debut with Creed III.
The Thomas Crown Affair is shaping up to be a sleek, high-stakes thriller, blending romance, style, and global intrigue. And with Arjona now officially in, the heist is back on.
