FX has ordered a second season of Alien: Earth and extended its relationship with creator/showrunner Noah Hawley under a new overall agreement with Disney Entertainment Television. The renewal cements the franchise’s first TV outing as a long-term play for FX and Hulu in the U.S. (with Disney+ carrying the series in most international territories).
Season 2 is slated to begin production in London in 2026, a shift from the first season’s Thailand shoot. The U.K. base is expected to streamline pre-production and scheduling, setting the stage for a likely 2027 return.
The renewal follows a breakout run for Alien: Earth, which drew strong reviews from critics and genre die-hards alike for its grounded world-building and nerve-shredding set pieces. Hawley will continue to steer the series creatively as part of his expanded pact—reportedly a nine-figure deal—while also developing additional projects across the Disney Entertainment Television portfolio.
Season 1 introduced a near-future Earth rattled by a crash-landed mystery, corporate power plays, and the resurgence of the franchise’s infamous bio-threat. The finale left multiple factions on a collision course, positioning Season 2 to escalate both the human drama and the xenomorph menace.
The ensemble is expected to return, led by Babou Ceesay, Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, and Samuel Blenkin, among others. Ridley Scott continues as an executive producer alongside Hawley, with FX Productions producing.
Where to watch: In the U.S., Season 2 will stream on FX and Hulu. Internationally, the series is available on Disney+.
What’s next: With cameras targeted to roll in 2026, casting additions and plot details should surface in the coming months as the production ramps up in London.
