Aliyah Turner Joins Paramount & Hybe America’s K-Pop Musical Drama

Aliyah Turner (Power Book III: Raising Kanan) has been tapped to star in Paramount Pictures and Hybe America’s upcoming K-pop musical drama, now in production in South Korea.

The studio also confirmed nine additional cast members, rounding out an already buzzed-about lineup. New additions include Korean stars Sung Jun (Ghost Mansion, The Villainess), Kang Sora (Strangers Again, Endless Rain), Hyongchol Lee (XO, Kitty), singer Ahin Lee, Renata Vaca (Mal De Amores, Midnight Family), Silia Kapsis — the 17-year-old musician who became the youngest performer at Eurovision 2024 — Shana Kim (Love Me), and Jubi Park.

They join previously announced cast members Ji-young Yoo (K-pop Demon Hunters), singer-songwriter Eric Nam (The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender), Yoo Ji-tae (Oldboy), Tony Revolori (Spider-Man), and Gia Kim (XO, Kitty).

Directed by Benson Lee (Seoul Searching), the film follows a young Korean American woman who defies her family’s wishes to compete in a televised competition to find the next K-pop girl group. The screenplay was written by Eileen Shim, following earlier drafts by Crazy Rich Asians scribe Adele Lim, Elyse Hollander, and Lee.

The film, the first major American studio project shot entirely in South Korea, is set to hit theaters February 12, 2027, aligning with Lunar New Year celebrations.

James Shin of Hybe America is producing alongside Arthur Spector and Joshua Davis of Epic Magazine and Scooter Braun. Executive producers include Joshuah Bearman of Epic Magazine, John Zaozirny, and Scott Manson, with Bryan Oh, Paramount’s SVP of production, overseeing on behalf of the studio.
