ALLBLK has released the official trailer and key art for its upcoming original feature film Deb Is Boss, a biopic inspired by the life of legendary music executive Deb Antney. The film premieres exclusively on the platform Thursday, March 5.
Before becoming a powerhouse manager who helped launch the careers of Gucci Mane, Nicki Minaj, Waka Flocka, and French Montana, Antney was a street-smart survivor navigating the dangerous underworlds of Queens, New York, and Boston, Massachusetts. Deb Is Boss traces her early life as she balances ambition, romance, and survival instincts—building an underground drug operation while dreaming of something bigger. That relentless drive ultimately laid the groundwork for her rise as one of hip-hop’s most influential figures.
Lil Mama stars as Antney, with a supporting cast that includes LisaRaye McCoy as Amelia, Clifton Powell as James, and Dan Lauria as Uncle Ben. The film also features Keraun Harris, Affion Crockett, Redaric Williams, and more.
The project is executive produced by Jamie Foxx and Datari Turner under Foxxhole Productions, alongside Antney and Nikaya D. Brown Jones, who also serves as showrunner. Trey Haley directs and executive produces, with Carl Weber on board as writer and executive producer.
Deb Is Boss is separate from Bev Is Boss, the previously announced scripted drama series inspired by Antney’s life that was commissioned by WE tv. While the series will explore similar themes, the ALLBLK film offers a focused, cinematic look at Antney’s early years and the grit behind her rise.
The biopic highlights Antney’s journey as a self-made woman, mentor, mother, and entrepreneur—one who fought her way through male-dominated spaces and reshaped hip-hop management on her own terms.
Deb Is Boss premieres March 5 on ALLBLK.
