Rapper 21 Savage has unveiled the trailer for his forthcoming film, “American Dream: The 21 Savage Story.” The film which blurs the lines over into a music video features a cast led by Donald Glover and Caleb McLaughlin. Directed by Glover, alongside his brother Stephen Glover, Jamal Olori, and Fam Udeorji, the film focuses on 21 Savage’s 2019 incarceration by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

McLaughlin portrays the rapper during his formative years, showcasing his struggles with bullying, his introduction to rap music, and the acquisition of his distinctive face tattoos. As the narrative unfolds, Donald Glover takes on the role during a pivotal period in 21 Savage’s career, including collaborations with Metro Boomin and the rapper’s Grammy win.

The trailer provides a glimpse into the highs and lows of 21 Savage’s life, shedding light on his 2018 arrest by ICE. The film aims to educate audiences about the rapper’s British heritage and the “Free 21 Savage” campaign that secured his release, allowing him to remain in the United States.

The cast includes Gail Beans, Victoria Pedretti, Jabari Banks, Chad Lindberg, Druski, and Young Mazino as 21 Savage’s lawyer. The trailer is complemented by new music from 21 Savage and an unexpected knighting ceremony by Natasha Lyonne.

The collaboration between Glover and 21 Savage extends beyond the biopic, as Glover had previously featured the rapper in his hit songs “This Is America” and “12.38.”
