Two-time WNBA All-Star Angel Reese is officially stepping into scripted television.

Reese has joined Season 2 of Netflix’s breakout drama The Hunting Wives, taking on a co-starring role as a character known as Trainer Barbie. The series is currently in production and will return exclusively as a Netflix-branded release, though a premiere date has not yet been announced.

Starring Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman, The Hunting Wives follows Sophie, a woman who relocates from the East Coast to East Texas and becomes entangled in an elite, secretive social circle led by Margo. What begins as an intoxicating introduction to wealth and power slowly unravels into a dangerous web of lies, loyalty, and violence.

Season 2 picks up with Sophie and Margo at odds, only to be forced back into each other’s orbit as old secrets resurface and new enemies emerge. As tensions rise, the line between predator and prey becomes increasingly blurred.

Reese joins previously announced Season 2 newcomers John Stamos, Kim Matula, Alex FitzAlan, Dale Dickey, and Cam Gigandet, alongside returning cast members including Jaime Ray Newman, Dermot Mulroney, Evan Jonigkeit, George Ferrier, Karen Rodriguez, Hunter Emery, and Branton Box.

Created by Rebecca Cutter and based on the bestselling novel by May Cobb, the series is produced by Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment. The first season became a surprise hit for Netflix following its July 2025 release, spending multiple weeks in the platform’s Global Top 10 despite initially being available only in the U.S.

Reese’s casting continues her expansion beyond basketball. She previously appeared as herself in A House of Dynamite, directed by Kathryn Bigelow, and is set to voice a character in the upcoming animated film GOAT, produced by Stephen Curry.

Known on the court as “Bayou Barbie” and “Chi Barbie,” Reese led LSU to its first national championship in 2023 and was named the NCAA Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. She was selected seventh overall by the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA Draft and has since earned back-to-back All-Star selections.

With The Hunting Wives, Reese adds her first major scripted role to a growing résumé—marking a notable next step in her crossover into entertainment.
