Apple TV Drops Teaser and Sets Premiere Date For ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ Season 2

Apple TV + has officially set Friday, Feb. 27, 2026 for the Season 2 premiere of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. The 10-episode season will debut globally with its first episode, followed by new installments every Friday through May 1.

The streamer also dropped a teaser trailer and first-look image, offering fans their first glimpse of what’s next for the Monsterverse series that blends family secrets, government conspiracies, and titanic showdowns.

Season 1 followed siblings Cate Randa (Anna Sawai) and Kentaro Randa (Ren Watabe) as they uncovered their family’s ties to Monarch — the covert organization monitoring Godzilla and other massive creatures. Their investigation linked them to Army officer Lee Shaw, played by both Wyatt Russell (1950s timeline) and Kurt Russell (modern day).

When the first season closed, Shaw’s fate was uncertain — trapped in Hollow Earth after sacrificing himself to save the team. Now, Apple TV + confirms that Kurt Russell will return in Season 2, alive and headed to King Kong’s Skull Island.

Per Apple’s official synopsis, “Season 2 picks up with the fate of Monarch — and the world — hanging in the balance. The dramatic saga reveals buried secrets that reunite our heroes (and villains) on Skull Island, and a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea. The ripple effects of the past make waves in the present day, blurring the bonds between family, friend, and foe — all with the threat of a titan event on the horizon.”

The returning cast also includes Kiersey Clemons, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett, and Anders Holm, with Amber Midthunder (Prey) joining the series as Isabel, a sharp-minded businesswoman who finds herself caught in Monarch’s growing storm.

The new teaser teases an epic return to Skull Island — home to the Eighth Wonder of the World himself, King Kong. While Godzilla dominated Season 1, it’s Kong’s turn to steal the spotlight as a towering new threat emerges from the depths.

Produced by Legendary Television, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is executive-produced by Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell (Safehouse Pictures), Chris Black (serving as showrunner), Jen Roskind, Matt Shakman, Andrew Colville, and Lawrence Trilling, who also directs four episodes. Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita executive-produce on behalf of Toho Co., Ltd., the owner of the Godzilla character.

Apple TV + and Legendary’s multi-series deal means this is only the beginning for the Monsterverse — with spinoffs already in development.

Long live the King.
