Ashley Anjalique just dropped the teaser trailer for her debut feature film Wash Day, and it’s giving quiet, soulful romance with a touch of nostalgia. The story follows two childhood acquaintances, Avery and Ty—played by Andi Anderson and Alec Adams (Tales, The Wonder Years)—who reconnect by chance at a laundromat. What starts as small talk between wash cycles turns into something deeper, and ultimately, life-changing. Kadeem Isaiah and Jai Webb also star in the project.
Co-written by Anjalique and Chastity Marie, Wash Day is set entirely in one location—a laundromat—and leans into the beauty of simplicity. It’s a story about fresh starts, unspoken feelings, and what it means to truly be seen by someone. The teaser offers a glimpse into the quiet chemistry between its leads, giving just enough to pull you into their world without revealing too much. It’s soft, grounded, and refreshingly real.
According to Anjalique, the film was born from a conversation between a group of friends determined to make something meaningful without waiting for outside validation. “We weren’t navigating the usual politics or needing big names to get greenlit,” she shared. “We started with what we had—including a laundromat—and built a story we believed in.” That energy shows in every frame. The cast may not be A-list, but the performances are full of heart and intention.
Wash Day, which is visually clean and intentionally intimate is currently in post-production and set for a 2025 release. Cinematographer Carlos Bradley, who also serves as producer and editor, captures the nuance of stillness and tension in close quarters. The rest of the crew—including co-writer/producer Chastity Marie, makeup artist Jnyce Altidor, and wardrobe stylist Tori Caston—round out a team that’s clearly committed to storytelling excellence.
Wash Day is a love story, yes, but also a celebration of creative freedom. It’s proof that when you center strong performances, cultural authenticity, and a clear vision, you don’t need much else. The trailer sets the tone: romantic, reflective, and refreshingly lowkey in the best way.
