Ashley Walters and Tracy Ifeachor Join M. Night Shyamalan and Nicholas Sparks’ Supernatural Romance ‘Remain’

The cast of Remain, M. Night Shyamalan’s next theatrical release, just got even more stacked.

Ashley Walters (Top Boy) and Tracy Ifeachor (The Pitt) are the latest to join the supernatural romantic thriller, alongside Julie Hagerty (Marriage Story), Jay O. Sanders (His Three Daughters), Hannah James (The Gray House), Caleb Ruminer (The Irrational), Kieran Mulcare (Jessica Jones), and Maria Dizzia (Orange is the New Black).

They join previously announced leads Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor in a film co-created by Shyamalan and bestselling novelist Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook). What makes Remain unique? It’s being told in two formats: Shyamalan is writing and directing the film, while Sparks is penning a novel of the same name. Both projects are based on the same characters and storyline — but are tailored to their respective mediums. Sparks’ novel will be released first on October 7, 2025. The film follows in theaters October 23, 2026, via Warner Bros.

Details about the plot remain under wraps, but the dual-medium approach and creative pairing alone make this a rare cinematic-literary event.

Behind the scenes, Shyamalan is producing through his Blinding Edge Pictures banner with Ashwin Rajan and Marc Bienstock, alongside Sparks’ longtime producing partner Theresa Park. Sparks will also serve as executive producer.

This release marks Shyamalan’s continued collaboration with Warner Bros. after 2024’s Trap. Meanwhile, Remain currently shares its release date with Jordan Peele’s next film, setting up what could be a major box office face-off between two genre giants.
