The trailer for Beauty in Black dropped and The Bellaries are back with even more betrayal, power, and revenge and a new woman in charge. Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black returns for Season 2 on September 11, with Taylor Polidore Williams, Crystle Stewart, Ricco Ross, Amber Reign Smith, Xavier Smalls, Julian Horton, Steven G. Norfleet, Richard Lawson, Terrell Carter, Bryan Tanaka, Charles Malik Whitfield, and Debbi Morgan all reprising their roles.
Created, directed, written, and executive produced by Perry, the drama follows two women leading very different lives whose worlds collide in explosive ways. Kimmie (Williams), once a struggling dancer and sex worker, has transformed into a rising force in the powerful Bellarie family. Mallory (Stewart), meanwhile, continues to protect her own ambitions within the beauty empire.
Season 2 Storyline
The new season picks up after Kimmie’s shocking marriage to patriarch Horace Bellarie (Ross), which places her at the head of the family’s cosmetics empire. But with the Bellaries also running an underground trafficking ring, Kimmie’s fight becomes deeply personal as she sets out on a mission to rescue her kidnapped sister.
“By the end of the season, Kimmie is on the verge of discovering a whole new level of power,” Williams told Netflix’s Tudum. Perry added, “Kimmie exemplifies the spirit of never underestimating the underdog, and I can’t wait for audiences to continue to see her story unfold. If you thought Season 1 was a wild ride, you’re not ready for Season 2.”
The Bellarie family isn’t taking Kimmie’s rise lightly. Horace’s ex-wife Olivia (Morgan), daughter-in-law Mallory (Stewart), and brother Norman (Lawson) are all set on maintaining control, while head of security Jules (Whitfield) — and Kimmie’s former boss — must adjust to her newfound power.
