Boots Riley’s ‘I Love Boosters’ Drops Teaser Trailer Ahead of SXSW 2026 World Premiere

The teaser trailer for I Love Boosters, the latest film from Boots Riley, has officially arrived—and it looks every bit as bold, chaotic, and sharply political as expected.

Set for release by Neon, the fashion-forward sci-fi comedy opens in theaters on May 22, 2026. The ensemble cast includes Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Poppy Liu, Eiza González, LaKeith Stanfield, Will Poulter, Don Cheadle, and Demi Moore.

Riley’s second feature centers on the Velvet Gang—a group of professional shoplifters who specialize in stealing from the ultra-wealthy. Their latest target is a ruthless fashion CEO who has lifted one of their ideas. What begins as a precision heist spirals into something much bigger: a stylish, anarchic uprising that blends couture, capitalism, and rebellion in classic Riley fashion.

Before its theatrical run, I Love Boosters will make its world premiere as the opening-night film of the South by Southwest Film and Television Festival. The milestone 40th edition of SXSW kicks off on March 12, 2026, running through March 18 in Austin, Texas, and will once again spotlight film, television, music, comedy, and panels featuring voices from across entertainment, media, and tech.

SXSW has been a key creative home for Riley. He first made waves there in 2018 with Sorry to Bother You, the surreal satire that starred Stanfield and Tessa Thompson. He returned in 2023 with the Prime Video series I Am Virgo, continuing his sharp critique of capitalism through genre-bending storytelling.

Now, eight years after his feature debut, Riley is back on the SXSW stage with I Love Boosters, produced by Neon in collaboration with Ryder Picture Company and Savage Rose Films—and if the teaser is any indication, he’s ready to make another very loud statement.
