Boots Riley is taking his latest film directly to college audiences.
Ahead of its theatrical release, Riley will hit the road with I Love Boosters for a nationwide college tour featuring advance screenings and Q&A conversations with the filmmaker. The tour launches after the film’s world premiere as the opening-night selection at the 2026 SXSW Film Festival and will run through early May.
Written and directed by Riley, I Love Boosters marks his second feature following his 2018 debut Sorry to Bother You. The new film continues the filmmaker’s signature blend of social commentary and absurdist storytelling.
The film follows a crew of professional shoplifters who take aim at a ruthless fashion mogul — described simply as “community service.”
The ensemble cast includes Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Lakeith Stanfield, Poppy Liu, Eiza González, and Will Poulter, with Don Cheadle and Demi Moore also appearing.
The college tour will stop at several universities across the country, including Yale, NYU, Indiana University, Temple University, and the University of Houston. The Tulsa stop will be hosted by OU Tulsa, the University of Tulsa, and Langston University, marking the only HBCU participating in the tour schedule.
Neon will release I Love Boosters in theaters nationwide on May 22.
