‘The Comic Shop’ Creator Cheyenne Ewulu Signs with M88 for Representation

Management company M88 has officially signed multi-hyphenate actress, writer, and creator Cheyenne Ewulu for representation.

Ewulu is best known as the creator, head writer, and star of the indie comedy series The Comic Shop, a community-backed project that follows a group of friends determined to keep their Los Angeles comic store alive—by any means necessary. The series, which raised over $207K on Kickstarter, became a viral success among fans of geek culture for its sharp humor and authentic representation of Black and brown creatives in the fandom space. Ewulu wrote five of the show’s seven episodes and independently produced the entire six-episode season, which includes guest appearances from Khary Payton (Invincible, The Walking Dead, Teen Titans Go!) and Rahul Kohli (Midnight Mass, iZombie).

Born and raised in New York, the Nigerian-American storyteller is building her lane in Hollywood through authentic storytelling and community-driven production. She’s also the founder of Awkward Virgo Productions, her independent company dedicated to producing inclusive stories and championing underrepresented voices across film, television, and new media.

This year, Ewulu premiered The Comic Shop trailer at San Diego Comic-Con and was a featured speaker at GLAAD’s Black Queer Creative Summit, where she spoke on independent filmmaking, representation, and using storytelling to build community.

Expanding her world even further, The Comic Shop universe is branching into publishing with an independently developed comic book anthology—bringing to life the very in-universe titles and characters fans saw on-screen.
