Production is underway in London on The Julia Set, a coming-of-age drama from writer-director Niki Byrne that follows a young woman navigating a fiercely competitive academic world.
One Battle After Another breakout Chase Infiniti stars as Julia, a gifted mathematician who’s recruited by a teaching assistant, Pascal (Christopher Briney), to join an elite prep course for one of the most challenging math competitions in the world — the Putnam Exam.
The ensemble also includes Chloe Bailey, Carmen Ejogo, Gillian Anderson, Jason Isaacs, Nina Hoss, Nico Hiraga, Liz Lin, and Alex Dillard.
The film is produced by Jeffrey Penman alongside The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Lee Stollman (The Maze Runner, Stargirl), as well as Nick Scherma, Tayler Haynes, and Byrne. It’s being made with support from the If/Then initiative, which aims to inspire cultural change by showcasing positive STEM role models, particularly women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
HanWay Films has joined the production to handle worldwide sales. CEO Gabrielle Stewart described The Julia Set as “a female-led Good Will Hunting,” praising Byrne’s script and the project’s timely focus on women assuming their power in male-dominated spaces.
The Julia Set is a Potato Salad Cosmic Domination Production in association with The Gotham Group, If/Then, G Nus Media, Cinetrain, and Melegrano. Nicole G. Small and Margaret Black serve as executive producers alongside Infiniti.
