Corey Hawkins is set to co-star opposite Mila Kunis in Nightwatching, a psychological thriller based on Tracy Sierra’s 2024 debut novel of the same name.
The film is directed by Adam Schindler and Brian Netto (Don’t Move), from a screenplay originally adapted by Laura Moss and Brendan J. O’Brien, with the current draft written by T.J. Cimfel and David White.
Kunis stars as Lee, a mother who wakes during a relentless winter storm to discover an intruder inside her home. What begins as an ordinary night quickly spirals into a harrowing fight for survival as Lee struggles to protect her children while navigating a chilling web of doubt and danger. Hawkins will play the police officer leading the investigation into the home invasion.
Described as a tense and atmospheric thriller, Nightwatching explores the razor-thin line between safety and terror—and how far a parent will go when everything they love is at risk.
The film is produced by Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, and Sam Roston for Scott Free Productions, alongside Erik Feig, Jessica Switch, and Emily Wissink for Picturestart, and Kunis with Lisa Sterbakov under Kunis’ newly branded production banner Brick for Sheep. Roston and Avital Siegel are overseeing production for Scott Free.
Graham Taylor and Christopher Slager executive produce for Fifth Season, which is also financing the film, with Justin Alvarado Brown executive producing for Scott Free.
Amazon MGM Studios will distribute the film internationally, while CAA Media Finance and WME Independent are handling domestic distribution rights.
Production began this week in California, with Zach Kuperstein (Barbarian, Don’t Move) serving as cinematographer.
Up next, Hawkins will appear in the Amazon MGM Studios thriller Crime 101, starring Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, and Barry Keoghan, as well as Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, opposite Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson, Anne Hathaway, and Lupita Nyong’o.
