17 Set to Guest Star in ‘Criminal Minds: Evolution’ Season 19 as Series Lands Season 20 Renewal [FIRST LOOK]

Paramount+ has officially renewed the long-running procedural for Season 20, set to debut in 2027, while also locking in a May 28 premiere date for Season 19. Alongside the announcement, the streamer released a first look teasing what’s next for the BAU.

The early renewal continues a pattern for the series, which has consistently been picked up ahead of its current season premieres—further solidifying Evolution as a core title for Paramount+ since its revival.

And this season? The guest lineup is deep.

Joining Season 19 are Connor Storrie, Justin Kirk, Yvette Nicole Brown, Clark Gregg, Paul F. Tompkins, Cress Williams, Kofi Siriboe, Lyndon Smith, Richard Cabral, Jeri Ryan, Rob Yang, Nicholas Gonzalez, Inny Clemons, Nicole Pacent, Dash Mihok, Joseph Cross, and Cara Jade Myers.

Season 19 builds on the aftermath of Elias Voit’s reign of terror, with the BAU navigating increasingly complex and unpredictable cases tied to his lingering influence. If Season 18 leaned into psychological tension, this next chapter pushes even further—blurring the lines between control, chaos, and the long reach of a single killer’s network.

Returning cast members Aisha Tyler, Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Zach Gilford, RJ Hatanaka, Adam Rodriguez, and Paget Brewster reprise their roles as the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, continuing their work tracking evolving threats shaped by Voit’s legacy.

The Season 20 renewal signals continued confidence in the franchise, which has found new life on Paramount+ by leaning deeper into serialized storytelling while maintaining its procedural roots.

Originally launched as a continuation of the CBS series that ran for 15 seasons, Criminal Minds: Evolution has managed to modernize the franchise while holding onto what made it work—character-driven storytelling anchored in high-stakes cases.

Nearly two decades in, Criminal Minds isn’t just continuing—it’s evolving in real time. And heading into its 20th season, one thing is clear: the BAU isn’t going anywhere.
