‘Criminal Record’ Season 2 Trailer Arrives as Apple TV+ Sets April Premiere

Apple TV+ has unveiled the official trailer for Season 2 of Criminal Record, confirming the critically acclaimed thriller will return globally on Wednesday, April 22. The eight-episode season will debut with its first episode, followed by weekly releases through June 10.

Led by Academy Award winner Peter Capaldi and Critics Choice Award nominee Cush Jumbo—both of whom also serve as executive producers—the series continues its character-driven exploration of crime, power, and truth in modern-day London.

Created by BAFTA nominee Paul Rutman, Season 2 raises the stakes as a fatal stabbing at a political rally pulls detectives June Lenker and Daniel Hegarty back into a tense partnership. What begins as a murder investigation quickly spirals into something far more dangerous—an undercover operation targeting a far-right bomb plot threatening the city.

Capaldi reprises his role as Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty, with Jumbo returning as Detective Sergeant June Lenker. The new season also expands its ensemble with Dustin Demri-Burns, Luca Pasqualino, Luther Ford, Lyndsey Marshal, and Peter Sullivan joining the cast, alongside returning actors Shaun Dooley, Stephen Campbell Moore, and Charlie Creed-Miles.

Produced by Tod Productions and STV Studios, the series is executive produced by Elaine Collins, Chris Sussman, Rutman, Capaldi, and Jumbo, with direction from Ben A. Williams and Joelle Mae David.

With its blend of psychological tension and timely subject matter, Criminal Record positions its second season as both a gripping crime story and a reflection of the complexities of justice in an increasingly polarized world.
