Don Cheadle Joins Climate Justice Doc Series ‘Vs. Goliath’ as Executive Producer

Don Cheadle is stepping further into the documentary space—this time backing a project rooted in environmental justice.

Cheadle has joined the docuseries Vs. Goliath as an executive producer, partnering with The Solutions Project, a nonprofit focused on advancing climate justice in frontline communities. The series recently premiered at SeriesFest in Denver and is continuing its rollout with its third episode debuting at the DC Environmental Film Festival.

A Story About Power, Resistance, and Community

At its core, Vs. Goliath centers on everyday people—often from working-class and marginalized communities—who are taking on the fossil fuel industry in high-stakes, real-world battles.

From Louisiana’s “Cancer Alley” to pipeline fights in Appalachia, the series highlights individuals pushing back against environmental harm in their own communities. Rather than framing them as victims, the series positions them as leaders driving change. His involvement brings added visibility to a series that prioritizes participant-driven storytelling—centering the voices of those most impacted.

Vs. Goliath is already building momentum on the festival circuit, winning both the Best Unscripted Pilot Award and the Audience Award for Best Unscripted Pilot at SeriesFest. It has also been selected for DOC NYC, DC/DOX, and the St. Louis International Film Festival—further solidifying its presence in the documentary space.

The series was co-created and directed by Sam Eilersten and Nate Birnbaum, with Maggie Lemere serving as co-director and Pulkit Datta producing. Cheadle joins a group of executive producers that includes climate advocates like 350.org co-founder Jamie Henn, Marielle Olentine, and Katie Redford. The project is supported by organizations including Fossil Free Media, Patagonia, The Redford Center, and Equation Campaign.

Why This One Matters

What sets Vs. Goliath apart is its focus on localized, personal stories that reveal how environmental issues directly impact communities. Instead of broad policy conversations, the series zooms in on real people navigating real consequences—highlighting how climate justice intersects with health, land, and survival.

With Don Cheadle now attached, the series is positioned to reach a wider audience while amplifying stories that are often overlooked.
