Dyllón Burnside to Star in Indie Comedy Series ‘The Right Side’

Dyllón Burnside has signed on to star in The Right Side, a new independently produced comedy series that is preparing for a spring shoot in New York. The project also features Golden Globe winner Andie MacDowell, marking another high-profile turn for the veteran actress in television.

Created by Max Talisman and Lynne Kamm, The Right Side is described as a sharp, character-driven comedy that examines politics as performance, family as collateral damage, and the challenge of loving people whose beliefs fundamentally oppose your own. The story kicks off when a live, on-air announcement transforms a terminal illness into a national media spectacle, forcing America’s most beloved conservative TV couple to confront their carefully managed public image when their liberal, podcast-famous children return home for a network tribute special. Complicating matters further, those same children host a show devoted to dismantling everything their parents represent.

MacDowell stars as Ruthie, a right-wing news celebrity and co-host of a popular morning show whose polished on-screen marriage and private life as a mother of twins begin to unravel under public scrutiny. Details surrounding Burnside’s role, as well as Talisman’s on-screen character, are being kept under wraps.

Talisman and Kamm will serve as co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers on the series, with Buzz Koenig producing for Atlantic Pictures. Katharina Eggmann is handling additional casting. The project reunites Talisman and Koenig following their recent collaboration on the indie comedy Things Like This, written, directed by, and starring Talisman.

Behind the scenes, The Right Side brings together a creative team with deep television credentials. Kamm is an award-winning writer and executive producer whose work includes CBC’s Plan B, as well as 19-2, Transplant, Ransom, and Letterkenny. Talisman, in addition to his acting work, has built a growing résumé as a writer and filmmaker with credits including Super Dark Times, Orange Is the New Black, and Search Party.

Burnside is best known for his breakout role on FX’s Pose, a series widely regarded as a landmark in television history. His recent credits include Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and American Horror Stories, continuing his momentum across prestige drama and genre television.

With its timely premise, politically charged humor, and a cast that spans generations of TV and film, The Right Side is shaping up to be a pointed and provocative addition to the indie series landscape.
