Eddie Murphy is expanding his already packed slate with Playas Ball, an upcoming action comedy that reunites him with Imagine Entertainment. While the logline is still under wraps, the project is being described as an action comedy with an undead twist.
Kyle Newacheck, who just helmed Happy Gilmore 2 for Netflix, is directing the film. The script comes from Myles Murphy.
Playas Ball will be produced by Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Jeb Brody, alongside Murphy and Charisse Hewitt-Webster for Eddie Murphy Productions.
Murphy’s partnership with Imagine Entertainment spans decades and includes some of his most iconic titles, like Boomerang, The Nutty Professor, Bowfinger, Life, Tower Heist, and most recently Candy Cane Lane.
The new project also follows the recent release of The Pickup, now streaming on Prime Video. The Amazon MGM comedy stars Murphy alongside Pete Davidson, Keke Palmer, and Eva Longoria.
