20th Century Studios has unveiled the first trailer for Eenie Meanie, the upcoming thriller from writer-director Shawn Simmons (Wayne), marking his feature directorial debut. The film, which premieres August 22, 2025, will stream exclusively on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally.
At the heart of the story is Edie, played by Samara Weaving (Ready or Not). Once a teenage getaway driver known as “Eenie Meanie,” she has spent years trying to escape the shadow of her criminal past. But when an old employer suddenly reappears with a proposition, Edie finds herself pulled back into the world she swore she’d left behind. To save the life of her chronically unreliable ex-boyfriend, she must once again step behind the wheel and face the chaos that comes with it.
The ensemble cast features a mix of comedy, drama, and even sports figures, adding to the film’s eclectic energy. Alongside Weaving are Karl Glusman, Randall Park, Steve Zahn, and Andy Garcia, with Marshawn Lynch stepping into the role of Perm Walters. The film also introduces audiences to Kyanna Simone, Jermaine Fowler, and Chris Bauer in undisclosed roles, offering a first look at how their performances help shape the tension-filled ride. Elle Graham portrays a younger version of Edie, while Mike O’Malley also joins the lineup.
Behind the camera, Simmons is supported by producers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the duo behind Deadpool and Zombieland, along with Marty Ewing. Together, they bring a mix of irreverent humor and high-stakes storytelling to what’s shaping up to be one of Hulu’s standout original releases this year.
