iyanu season 2 teaser trailer

Lion Forge Entertainment has released a new teaser trailer for Season 2 of Iyanu, the animated fantasy series rooted in Yoruba culture and Nigerian mythology. The new season is set to premiere in Spring 2026 and finds Iyanu stepping fully into her destiny as protector of Yorubaland—just as an ancient and dangerous threat resurfaces.

Season 2 introduces Queen Adura, voiced by Faith Gesiere Agua, and Boju, voiced by David Onwubalili, two pivotal new characters tied to the mysterious People of the Deep, a powerful force rising from Yorubaland’s long-buried past. Their emergence threatens to reshape the kingdom’s future as ancient magic awakens and political tensions escalate.

Based on the graphic novel Iyanu: Child of Wonder by creator Roye Okupe, the series debuted in April 2025 on Cartoon Network and HBO Max, quickly earning praise for its bold storytelling, rich cultural foundation, and stunning animation.

Season 2 continues Iyanu’s evolution as her powers grow—and the responsibility that comes with them becomes heavier. Reunited with Team Chosen—Ekun, Biyi, Toye, and Olori—Iyanu must lead her allies through new challenges that will test their strength, unity, and belief in one another as they fight to protect Yorubaland.

Returning cast members include Serah Johnson as Iyanu, Okey Jude as Biyi, and Sam Kugbiyi as Toye.

“Season two is about responsibility, legacy, and what it truly means to lead,” said Okupe, creator and executive producer. “Iyanu is no longer discovering who she is—she understands her power, and now she must decide how to use it. Introducing Queen Adura and the People of the Deep allows us to explore long-buried history and tensions that reshape Yorubaland in unexpected ways.”

The teaser arrives as Iyanu continues to build impressive awards momentum. The series earned three NAACP Image Award nominations, including Outstanding Animated Series, Outstanding Children’s Program, and Outstanding Writing in a Television Movie, Documentary, or Special for Iyanu: The Age of Wonders. Its cultural impact has also been recognized globally, with Nigerian pop star Yemi Alade winning Best Soundtrack in a Movie, Series, or Documentary at the 9th AFRIMA Awards for “You Are,” the show’s opening theme.

“The response to Iyanu has been incredibly meaningful, from audiences around the world to recognition by the NAACP Image Awards,” said David Steward II, CEO and Founder of Lion Forge Entertainment and executive producer. “Season two raises the stakes in every way—emotionally, visually, and narratively—as Iyanu steps fully into her role as protector of Yorubaland and confronts forces rooted in ancient history and powerful magic.”

Fans can currently catch up on Season 1 of Iyanu, including the finale movie special Iyanu: The Age of Wonders, now streaming on HBO Max in the U.S. Internationally, the series is available on Showmax across 44 African countries, ITVX in the U.K., ABC iview in Australia, and on Ejuni or Kids TV and STARZPLAY throughout the UAE and wider MENA region.

Season 2 promises to go bigger, deeper, and darker—cementing Iyanu as a defining animated series rooted in culture, legacy, and epic fantasy.
