The first look at the second season of the critically acclaimed British satirical comedy Dreaming Whilst Black teases Kwabena’s next big challenge — tackling diversity in the world of period drama.
Created by Adjani Salmon and co-produced by A24 and Big Deal Films, the series will return to BBC Three on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 10:10 PM. All episodes will also be available to stream on BBC iPlayer from 6 AM the same day. Showtime is once again set to release the series in the U.S., though a premiere date has yet to be announced.
What to Expect This Season
In season one, Salmon’s Kwabena fought to get his first feature film funded while navigating racism and exploitation in the British entertainment industry. Now, season two begins with Kwabs stepping into a new era: the so-called “age of diversity, equity, and inclusion,” where Hollywood and the UK industry alike promise to empower marginalized voices.
But does the reality live up to the glossy press statements?
Kwabena lands a directing role on Sin and Subterfuge, a genre-bending period drama helmed by trailblazing Black producer Bridgette Julienne. The opportunity looks like a golden ticket—but might just turn out to be a poisoned chalice.
Expect sharp satire, biting industry commentary, and Kwabs questioning whether true progress is being made or if it’s just another façade.
