Amazon MGM Studios has dropped the first look at Relationship Goals, a new romantic comedy starring Kelly Rowland, Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Robin Thede, Annie Gonzalez, Dennis Haysbert, and Matt Walsh.
In Relationship Goals, Rowland stars as Leah Caldwell, a brilliant TV producer on the verge of making history as the first woman to run New York’s top morning show. Just as her big break approaches, her ex, Jarrett Roy (Clifford “Method Man” Smith), resurfaces—this time as her rival for the same job. He swears he’s a changed man, guided by the wisdom of a self-help book that’s taken the city by storm: Relationship Goals.
As Leah’s close-knit circle of friends begins diving into the same book, everyone starts to reevaluate what love, purpose, and partnership really mean. But for Leah, who’s laser-focused on breaking through the glass ceiling, the idea of rekindling romance with her ex is a distraction she can’t afford—until their undeniable chemistry forces her to question whether she’s truly moved on.
Directed by Emmy Award-winner Linda Mendoza and produced by DeVon Franklin, the film is based on pastor and author Michael Todd’s New York Times bestselling book Relationship Goals: How to Win at Dating, Marriage, and Sex. The screenplay comes from Michael Elliot, Cory Tynan, and Laura Lekkos, with executive producers Kelly Rowland, Bart Lipton, and Todd himself.
Described as both funny and inspiring, Relationship Goals explores ambition, faith, and second chances in love through a lens that feels fresh, real, and relatable.
Rowland—who recently starred in Tyler Perry’s Netflix hit Mea Culpa—continues to expand her footprint as both a performer and producer. Method Man, fresh off his award-winning turn in Power Book II: Ghost, adds another charismatic role to his growing list of dramatic and romantic credits.
