First Look: Jay Ellis, Ego Nwodim & Nicholas Duvernay Star in Mindy Kaling’s ‘Not Suitable for Work’

We’ve got our first look at Jay Ellis, Ego Nwodim, and Nicholas Duvernay in Not Suitable for Work, the upcoming Hulu comedy from Mindy Kaling—and it’s giving young, ambitious, and slightly chaotic in the best way.

Not Suitable for Work follows five work-obsessed twenty-somethings chasing career success—and whatever’s left of their personal lives—in Manhattan’s polished but pressure-filled Murray Hill neighborhood.

The ensemble also includes Ella Hunt, Avantika, Will Angus, and Jack Martin, with a stacked lineup of recurring talent like Constance Wu, Victor Garber, and Judy Gold.

Nicholas Duvernay stars as Kel, a medical student juggling exams while quietly chasing his dreams of becoming an actor. Meanwhile, Jay Ellis steps into the role of Bill Gibson, a high-powered investment banker who’s as influential as he is admired. On the other side of the professional spectrum, Ego Nwodim plays Kate Woodson, an assistant head of school navigating her own corner of Manhattan’s elite world.

Created by Kaling and run by Charlie Grandy (The Sex Lives of College Girls, The Mindy Project), the series leans into that specific twenty-something tension—where every decision feels life-altering, and you’re figuring out who you are in real time.

Not Suitable for Work premieres June 2 on Hulu with three episodes, followed by two episodes weekly through June 23.
