Gayle King Renews Deal With CBS, Will Remain on CBS Mornings

Gayle King is staying put at CBS.

The longtime broadcast journalist has renewed her deal with the network, ensuring she will continue co-hosting CBS Mornings as the Paramount-owned company navigates major leadership changes and a shifting media landscape.

King confirmed the news in a statement, addressing months of speculation about her future with the network.

“Rumors of my demise were inaccurate and greatly exaggerated,” King said. “CBS News is my longtime home, and I am committed to our mission. I’m excited about continuing at CBS Mornings. As always, I’m open to new adventures here and ready to go. It took a minute, but we got there. And now that we are here, I am all in.”

The renewal brings stability to the morning program, where King currently co-hosts alongside former NFL wide receiver Nate Burleson. The show is still searching for a third co-host after Tony Dokoupil moved earlier this year to anchor CBS Evening News.

While financial terms of King’s new agreement were not disclosed, CBS leadership indicated that the deal will extend beyond the morning show and include additional projects that showcase her talents across the network.

King has been a central figure at CBS since 2012, when she joined the network’s morning program during its CBS This Morning era. In 2021, the show was rebranded as CBS Mornings, with King remaining a key anchor through the transition.

Her decision to stay comes during a period of significant change at CBS News. The division is undergoing restructuring following Skydance’s acquisition of Paramount, the parent company of CBS. New leadership has signaled a push toward expanding the network’s presence across streaming platforms and social media while integrating traditional broadcast operations with digital-first strategies.

Despite those shifts, King remains one of the network’s most recognizable personalities and a cornerstone of its news programming.

Her continued presence also comes as CBS has seen notable departures in recent months, including Anderson Cooper stepping away from his longtime role as a correspondent for 60 Minutes after nearly two decades.

Even with CBS Mornings currently ranking behind its broadcast competitors in the morning show race, King’s influence and credibility have kept her at the center of the network’s long-term plans.

And now, with a new deal in place, it looks like Gayle King’s mornings at CBS aren’t ending anytime soon.
