Geoffrey Owens is stepping into the chaos of The Pitt.
Variety exclusively reported that Owens joined Season 2 of the HBO medical drama as a guest star, appearing in Episode 13 as Dr. Clay Barrett, a cardio-thoracic surgeon. His episode is set to air April 2.
The series, led by Noah Wyle, continues its high-intensity, real-time storytelling inside a Pittsburgh ER, where personal lives and professional pressure constantly collide. Season 2 has leaned even further into that tension, layering in hospital shutdown threats, staffing shortages, and emotionally heavy cases.

Owens joins a growing list of notable guest stars this season, including Mary McCormack, who reunites with Wyle as neurosurgeon Dr. Linda Conley, and Sara Wyle, who appears as a patient in the same episode.
For many, Owens will always be recognized as Elvin Tibideaux from The Cosby Show, where he appeared in over 100 episodes. More recently, he’s appeared in projects like Poppa’s House, Nonnas, All Rise, Ghosts, The Night Agent, and more.
New episodes of The Pitt drop Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO Max.
