Amazon MGM Studios is expanding the ensemble of its upcoming romantic comedy Goodbye Girl, with Andrew Bachelor officially joining the cast. The film is currently in production in New Orleans and will premiere globally on Prime Video.
Bachelor joins a lineup led by Kiernan Shipka and Cole Sprouse, with direction from Oran Zegman, who previously helmed Honor Society.
A Professional Heartbreaker Meets Her Match
Goodbye Girl centers on Jess (Shipka), a woman whose unusual job title says it all: she’s a professional heartbreaker. Hired by a bride too afraid to call off her own wedding, Jess is tasked with breaking the news to the groom (Sprouse) just days before the ceremony. But what should be a clean emotional exit spirals when Jess fumbles the breakup — and unexpectedly falls for the very man she was paid to dump.
The film blends a high-concept romantic setup with what producers describe as a character-driven approach, aiming for the emotional honesty and comedic timing that define classic rom-coms — while keeping things modern.

The screenplay comes from Danielle Hoover and David Monahan, based on a story they conceived with Jessica Elbaum. Production is led by Gulfstream Pictures, which also contributed financing. Producers include Mike Karz and William Bindley for Gulfstream, alongside Dawn Bierschwal and Ryan Lewis of The RAD Lab, and Daniel Wagner.

Goodbye Girl marks the fifth collaboration between Gulfstream Pictures and Amazon MGM Studios. Previous projects in the pipeline include Pretty Lethal, Upgraded, The Other Zoey, and One Fast Move, as well as the forthcoming Honeymoon with Harry.
With Bachelor’s addition, the film continues to build a cross-generational cast that blends established comedic talent with Gen Z favorites — positioning Goodbye Girl as a potential Prime Video rom-com standout when it debuts.
