A Familiar Story — With More Room to Breathe

The series introduces a new generation of actors led by Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

The adult ensemble includes: Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid

Essiedu’s casting as Snape remains one of the most talked-about aspects of the reboot. The teaser only offers a brief glimpse of the character, but the conversation around him has already extended far beyond the footage.

As previously reported, Essiedu faced online harassment and death threats following his casting — a response that underscores the challenges of reimagining legacy characters within deeply protective fan communities.
