HBO Drops First Trailer for Rachel Sennott’s New Comedy Series ‘I Love LA’

HBO has released the first trailer for I Love LA, the upcoming comedy series created by and starring Rachel Sennott. The show follows Maia, an ambitious assistant at a talent management company whose life gets turned upside down when a long-lost friend reappears just as she’s vying for a major promotion.

The trailer introduces Sennott as Maia, a woman determined to climb the ranks at her company. “Luck is just when preparation meets opportunity. Hustle until your idols become your rivals,” she tells herself in the mirror before learning she’s been passed over for a promotion. Frustrated, she heads home to vent to her boyfriend, Dylan (Josh Hutcherson), when she’s suddenly ambushed by Tallulah (Odessa A’zion) — a chaotic social media influencer and former friend who bursts into Maia’s life wearing only a towel, shouting, “Surprise, you little bitch!”

Tallulah’s unexpected return quickly complicates Maia’s already fragile world. When Tallulah comments that Maia’s apartment looks familiar, Maia reminds her that it’s the same place they once planned to move into together. “And you’re still here?” Tallulah asks, stunned — a jab that doesn’t sit well with Maia. Later, while talking to her friends Alani (True Whitaker) and Charlie (Jordan Firstman), Maia declares, “I made her successful. I can do it for other bitches.”

As the trailer unfolds, Maia and Tallulah’s rekindled friendship spirals into a mix of partying, scheming, and emotional chaos. Dylan grows increasingly concerned, warning Maia, “Those kind of people have this endless ambition. They want success and money and a nice house and all these things.” He later tells her, “Do you realize that you are so different ever since Tallulah got here?”

I Love LA also features guest appearances from Moses Ingram, Quenlin Blackwell, Leighton Meester, Lauren Holt, Elijah Wood, Josh Brener, Froy Gutierrez, Colin Woodell, and Tim Baltz.

Behind the camera, Sennott executive produces alongside Emma Barrie, Aida Rodgers, Max Silvestri, and Lorene Scafaria. The directing team includes Sennott, Scafaria, Bill Benz, and Kevin Bray.

The eight-episode series premieres Sunday, November 2 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and streams on HBO Max, with new episodes dropping weekly through December 21.
