Kaitlin Olson Returns in High Potential Season 2 as ABC Drops Trailer

ABC’s quirky crime dramedy High Potential is officially back this fall, and Kaitlin Olson is once again leading the charge as Morgan Gillory, the genius single mom whose unconventional sleuthing has turned her into one of network TV’s most refreshing detectives.

The returning cast includes Daniel Sunjata as Detective Karadec, Judy Reyes as Lt. Selena Soto, Javicia Leslie as Detective Daphne Forrester, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Osman, and Amirah J and Matthew Lamb as Morgan’s kids, Ava and Elliot. Taran Killam is also expected to reprise his role as Morgan’s ex, Ludo.

Joining the ensemble this season are Steve Howey (Shameless), who takes on the role of the precinct’s new captain Jesse Wagner, and Mekhi Phifer, who steps into a recurring role that’s still being kept under wraps.

Trailer Teases Ongoing Threats and New Secrets

ABC unveiled the first official trailer for Season 2, and the stakes are already higher. Morgan is still haunted by the Game Maker (David Giuntoli), the manipulative nemesis introduced in last season’s finale. His chilling voiceover reminds her: “I think you like this game as much as I do.” But Morgan pushes back, promising to protect her children at all costs.

The trailer also teases a shocking family revelation as Morgan’s daughter Ava learns more about her long-missing father Roman, plus the arrival of Captain Wagner, whose out-of-the-box thinking threatens to shake up precinct dynamics.

What to Expect This Season

  • The Game Maker: His dangerous mind games continue, putting Morgan and her family in the crosshairs.
  • Roman’s Return: Ava struggles with the truth that her father is still alive.
  • Balancing Act: Between baby Chloe at home and complex mysteries at work, Morgan remains equal parts brilliant investigator and chaotic mom.
  • Team Dynamics: Karadec, Soto, Daphne, and Oz remain loyal allies, but the addition of Captain Wagner will test everyone’s rhythm.

The series was created for television by Drew Goddard (Lost) and is showrun by Todd Harthan. Olson also serves as a producer, alongside Goddard and Sarah Esberg of Goddard Textiles. High Potential is based on the French series Haut Potentiel Intellectuel and is produced by 20th Television.
