Hulu Gives Series Order For ‘Prison Break’ Reboot Starring Myles Bullock and More

The Prison Break universe is officially expanding. Hulu has ordered Elgin James’ pilot to series, introducing a new story set within the same world as the original Fox hit.

In this reimagined take, Emily Browning stars as Cassidy, an ex-soldier turned corrections officer who accepts a position at one of the most dangerous prisons in America — testing the limits of how far she’ll go for someone she loves.

The series also stars Myles Bullock as Darius “Red,” Drake Rodger as Tommy, Lukas Gage as Jackson, Clayton Cardenas as Michael “Ghost,” JR Bourne as Junior, and Georgie Flores as Andrea.

Though it shares DNA with Paul Scheuring’s original 2005 series, this Prison Break is described as its own standalone story — one that won’t center on brothers Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell).

The pilot, filmed in West Virginia earlier this year, was written, directed, and executive produced by Elgin James, who also serves as showrunner. James previously co-created and led FX’s Mayans M.C., which ran for five seasons, and his credits include Little Birds and Lowriders.

Joining James are executive producers Dawn Olmstead, Paul Scheuring, Marty Adelstein, and Neal Moritz, all of whom were involved with the original series. The show hails from 20th Television.

The original Prison Break became a cultural phenomenon when it debuted on Fox in 2005, following Scofield’s elaborate plan to free his wrongfully convicted brother from death row. The series ran for four seasons, spawned The Final Break TV movie in 2009, and a 2017 limited series revival.

Nearly two decades later, the legacy remains strong — Prison Break ranked as the most-streamed series in the U.S. in August 2024, according to Nielsen, with all episodes now available to stream on Hulu.
