A new narrative podcast exploring the life and legacy of DMX is officially in development.
Titled Look Thru My Eyes: Becoming DMX, the upcoming series will be hosted by Jadakiss and executive produced by 50 Cent through G-Unit Audio. The project is being produced in collaboration with Narratively and iHeartPodcasts, with a release planned for later this year across all major podcast platforms.
The podcast will focus on the early life and rise of DMX, born Earl Simmons, centering on his formative years in Yonkers, New York—long before mainstream fame. The first season will trace his path as a young artist navigating hardship, ambition, and the local battle-rap scene that helped shape his voice and reputation.
Hosted by Jadakiss, a fellow Yonkers native and contemporary of DMX, the series will feature firsthand accounts from family members, childhood friends, collaborators, rivals, and cultural figures who were present during DMX’s early journey. Rather than revisiting his most public moments, the podcast aims to contextualize the experiences and environment that influenced his artistry and worldview.
Veteran audio producer Drew Nelles (Crimetown, The Binge Crimes) will serve as showrunner. Executive producers include Noah Rosenberg and Paul Anderson of Workhouse Media, alongside Bruce Miller and Justin Baez—both Yonkers natives with personal ties to DMX and his family. The production team emphasizes a community-rooted approach, grounding the series in the city that played a central role in DMX’s development.
DMX was known to be selective about longform audio storytelling during his lifetime, though he did appear on high-profile interview platforms prior to his passing in 2021. Look Thru My Eyes: Becoming DMX represents a posthumous effort to document his origins through those who knew him before the spotlight.
The podcast is produced by Narratively, G-Unit Audio, Blue Light Media, and 1982 Media, in association with Workhouse Media. Future seasons are expected to expand beyond DMX, spotlighting the early stories of other influential artists.
