Bella Thorne has officially wrapped production on Color Your Hurt, a coming-of-age thriller based on her 2024 short Unsettled. The project marks her feature directorial debut and expands on themes first introduced in the short, which she also wrote, directed, and produced.
Leading the ensemble is newcomer Jason Parks, reprising his role from Unsettled, alongside BAFTA nominee and Emmy winner Christopher Eccleston (Jude), Golden Globe nominee Tammy Blanchard (Into the Woods), Tony nominee Gideon Glick (Maestro), and Jordan Alexander (Gossip Girl).
Color Your Hurt follows a young gay man fighting for self-acceptance in a hostile community. Haunted by repressed memories that morph into nightmarish visions, his journey becomes one of terror, fleeting beauty, and ultimately liberation.
The cast also features Linus Roache (Mandy), Emmy and Tony nominee Dylan Baker (Happiness), Colin Bates (Queer), and Tom Pecinka (The Kill Room). Mark Emms (Bad Vegan) produced the film alongside Thorne under AM Films, with executive producers including Parks, Freddie Sizer, Courtenay Semel, Ram Getz, Michael Mortensen, Dave Osokow, Kiowa Gordon, Patrick Sutter, and Yulia Zayceva (The Chronology of Water).
Thorne’s short Unsettled, also based on Parks’ real-life experiences, world premiered at Palm Springs ShortsFest and earned HollyShorts’ Best Rising Director award.
Color Your Hurt marks the next step in Thorne’s transition into feature filmmaking—one blending deeply personal storytelling with a thriller’s edge.
