Dorian Gregory, Tamala Jones, and Geoffrey Owens are among the cast in Joshua Coates’ upcoming film Divine Direction. Adapted from Charles Moorer’s personal story—originally chronicled in his two books Standing on the Word of Adonai and Giving Up Is Not an Option—the film has officially wrapped production.
Rounding out the cast are Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight, The Expendables), Torrei Hart (But Deliver Us From Evil), Judae’a (The Chi, Madonna Non Grata), Golden Globe and Grammy-winning gospel singer Regina Belle, comedian Marcus D. Wiley in his on-screen debut, and introducing newcomer Shamere Dunswell.
Filmed in Philadelphia, Divine Direction tells the heartfelt story of a devoted father and Pastor whose faith is shaken when his young son is diagnosed with a rare form of kidney cancer.
Gregory takes on dual lead roles as both Charles Moorer and his twin brother, Quinton. Jones plays Cora Moorer, with Owens as Charles Moorer Sr., Roberts as Dr. Patrick Batra, Hart as Crystal Moorer, Judae’a as Chelsea Moorer, and Belle as Aunt Gertrude. Wiley stars as Pastor Reggie Fletcher, and Dunswell portrays Chad Moorer.
Coates, who also produced the film, is the President and CEO of 20/20 Visions Entertainment Group. His most recent feature, Ageless Love, was released in 2022. Divine Direction is produced by Coates and Pete Postiglione, with Charles Moorer serving as executive producer. The film is a 20/20 Visions Entertainment Group production in association with 4C Music Productions.
Distribution will be handled by One Culture, a multinational TV and film distribution company based in Atlanta, GA.
