Netflix has released the official trailer for Kathryn Bigelow’s upcoming thriller A House of Dynamite. The film marks Bigelow’s first feature in eight years and imagines what happens when a single, unidentified missile is launched at the United States.
The trailer introduces the film’s central crisis: a nuclear missile heading toward Chicago with only 20 minutes before impact. Urgent scenes inside command centers and government offices show military and political leaders scrambling to respond as alarms blare and difficult choices mount. The trailer highlights tense dialogue, rapid calculations, and the looming question of whether U.S. defenses can intercept the threat in time.
Ensemble Cast
Leading the film are Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson, both appearing prominently in the trailer as key figures at the forefront of the crisis response. They are joined by Gabriel Basso (The Night Agent), Jared Harris, Anthony Ramos, Tracy Letts, Greta Lee, Moses Ingram, Jonah Hauer-King, Jason Clarke, and Lily James.
The supporting lineup includes Kaitlyn Dever, Kyle Allen, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Brittany O’Grady, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Malachi Beasley, Brian Tee, and Willa Fitzgerald. Together, the expansive cast portrays officials, advisors, operatives, and civilians caught in the uncertainty of the unfolding event.
Bigelow’s Return
A House of Dynamite is Bigelow’s first film since 2017’s Detroit. The Academy Award–winning director is known for her meticulous and immersive style, previously seen in The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty. Her latest work continues her exploration of stories rooted in national security and crisis response, this time bringing the focus directly onto American soil.
Release Dates
Following premieres at the Venice and New York Film Festivals, A House of Dynamite will open in select theaters October 3 in the United Kingdom, expand globally October 10, and premiere on Netflix October 24.
