Keke Palmer Leads Peacock’s ‘The ’Burbs’ Reboot as Suburban Secrets Take Center Stage in Full Trailer

Peacock has officially pulled back the curtain on its modern reboot of The ‘Burbs, releasing the first full trailer for the eight-episode mystery-comedy series—and placing Keke Palmer firmly at the center of the chaos. All episodes will drop at once on Sunday, February 8, making the series a full binge from day one.

Inspired by Joe Dante’s 1989 cult classic, the new The ’Burbs reimagines the story for present-day suburbia, where manicured lawns and friendly waves hide far more than they reveal. Palmer stars as Samira, one half of a young couple who reluctantly relocate to her husband’s childhood home. Her on-screen partner, Rob—played by Jack Whitehall—may be trying to settle into familiar surroundings, but it doesn’t take long for the neighborhood’s quiet façade to crack.

That illusion fully shatters when a mysterious new neighbor moves in across the street, setting off a chain reaction that exposes long-buried secrets and introduces threats far more dangerous than passive-aggressive HOA meetings. What begins as awkward suburban adjustment quickly spirals into darkly funny, increasingly unsettling territory.

The ensemble cast leans hard into that tonal blend of comedy and suspense. Joining Palmer and Whitehall are Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch, and Kapil Talwalkar as the core group of neighbors who may know more than they’re letting on. Recurring appearances from Kyrie McAlpin, RJ Cyler, Justin Kirk, Haley Joel Osment, Randy Oglesby, Danielle Kennedy, Max Carver, Erica Dasher, Georgia Leva, and Kathleen Kenny promise even more twists—and plenty of suspicious glances through half-closed blinds.

Behind the scenes, the series is created, written, and executive produced by Celeste Hughey, with Rachel Shukert also serving as writer and executive producer. Palmer executive produces in addition to starring, joined by Seth MacFarlane, Brian Grazer, and Nzingha Stewart, who directs all eight episodes and executive produces. The project comes from Universal Studio Group’s UCP in partnership with Fuzzy Door and Imagine Entertainment.

While the series doesn’t retell the original film beat for beat, it clearly borrows its spirit—lampooning suburban normalcy while tapping into the paranoia and absurdity that made the 1989 movie endure long after its theatrical run. It’s a tonal sweet spot that feels especially timely, blending satire, suspense, and social commentary without losing sight of the fun.

Whether you’re revisiting The ’Burbs for nostalgia or discovering this world for the first time, Peacock’s reboot positions itself as a sharp, modern take on suburban anxiety—with Palmer’s comedic timing and command anchoring the ride.

All eight episodes of The ‘Burbs premiere Sunday, February 8, exclusively on Peacock. The trailer is out now—and your quiet cul-de-sac weekends may never look the same.
