Kelvin Harrison Jr. is the latest to join Alpha Gang, an alien invasion comedy from the minds of David and Nathan Zellner (Sasquatch Sunset). He’ll appear alongside a stacked ensemble that now includes Chris Pine, Lily-Rose Depp, Doona Bae, Cate Blanchett, Léa Seydoux, Dave Bautista, and Riley Keough.
Alpha Gang follows a squad of alien invaders sent to conquer Earth. Disguised in human form as a 1950s leather-clad biker gang, they arrive ready for destruction—until they’re derailed by something far more insidious: human emotion.
Newly announced cast members Pine (Star Trek), Depp (Nosferatu), Bae (Rebel Moon), and Harrison Jr. (Mufasa: The Lion King) join previously confirmed stars Blanchett (TÁR), Seydoux (Crimes of the Future), Bautista (Knock at the Cabin), and Keough (The House That Jack Built).
The film has undergone some reshuffling since it was first announced in October 2024. While Channing Tatum, Zoë Kravitz, and Steven Yeun were originally attached, they’ve since exited the project due to scheduling and other behind-the-scenes factors typical of ambitious indie film packages.
Character details remain under wraps, but production is being handled by a robust team. The Zellner brothers produce via their ZBi banner, alongside Blanchett and Coco Francini for Dirty Films, Keough and Gina Gammell for Felix Culpa, Ryan Zacarias for Fat City, Andrea Bucko for Sugar Rush Pictures, Mary Aloe for Aloe Entertainment, and Joshua Harris for Peachtree Media Partners.
International sales are being handled by mk2 Films, which launched pre-sales at the 2024 American Film Market. CAA Media Finance is repping the North American rights.
Harrison Jr. continues a busy streak—he was recently cast as Beetee in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, and can also be seen in O’Dessa, Chevalier, and Nat Geo’s Genius: MLK/X. Up next, he stars as Jean-Michel Basquiat in the indie biopic Samo Lives.
With this unique genre blend and powerhouse cast, Alpha Gang is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing sci-fi comedies on the horizon.
