KiKi Layne and Jorden Myrie have been tapped as series regulars in Vought Rising, Prime Video’s upcoming prequel to The Boys.
They join returning franchise stars Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, who will reprise their roles as Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively. Also set as series regulars are Will Hochman, Elizabeth Posey, Nicolò Pasetti (Industry), Ricky Staffieri (The Bear), Brian J. Smith (Sense8), and Mason Dye (Stranger Things).
Set in the 1950s, Vought Rising is described as a “twisted murder mystery” about the early days of Vought International. The series will explore the origins of the corporation through the lens of Soldier Boy’s early exploits and the rise of a Supe fans know today as Stormfront, who was then going by her real name: Clara Vought.
Production is slated to begin this month. Paul Grellong, a longtime executive producer on The Boys, serves as showrunner and executive producer on the new series.
Character details for Layne, Myrie, and most of the cast have not been revealed. However, early speculation suggests Layne may portray a Harlem housewife with big ambitions, while Dye is rumored to play a former combat pilot battling addiction—though these roles have not been officially confirmed by Prime Video or the creative team.
This marks the third project in The Boys franchise, following the success of Gen V and The Boys Presents: Diabolical. The team behind the prequel includes The Boys creator Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, Michaela Starr, and Jim Barnes. Ackles and Cash are also on board as producers.
Vought Rising is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.
