Lee Daniels Teases the Return of “Star”: “It Is Being Written”

Lee Daniels recently hinted at the revival of his fan-favorite musical drama TV series “Star.” The update came through an Instagram post by GotDamnZo (@Iamzoie), who shared a gripping scene. He captioned it, “I NEED STAR BACK BECAUSE BABYYYYYY THE WAY I WAS INVESTED ????? THIS SCENE STILL LEAVES ME SHOOK GRANDMA POISONED THAT AHH THO!!!!…”

The post garnered attention, particularly from Lee Daniels, who responded and confirmed that the show is currently in the writing phase. He also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming love and support.

“Love you for this. It is being written. I appreciate everybody’s love! It’s just taken me FOREVER cause I have other projects…It’s crazy, I had NO IDEA when I created this show the response would be like this. #grateful ??♥️”

Lee Daniels Teases the Return of "Star" in Exciting Instagram Exchange

“Star,” created by Lee Daniels and Tom Donaghy for the Fox Broadcasting Company, revolves around three talented young singers navigating the music industry in their pursuit of success. The series which features original music and fantasy sequences starred Ryan Destiny, Jude Demorest, and Brittany O’Grady.

The series, set in Atlanta also starred Queen Latifah, Benjamin Bratt, Amiyah Scott, Brandy and Quincy Brown.

The show premiered on December 14, 2016, and gained acclaim for its unique storyline and diverse representation. Despite its cancellation by Fox in 2019 after three seasons, Daniels announced a movie of the week version to provide closure. He stated, “The good news is: we’re doing a movie of the week to wrap things up for you all… We’re going to make something real special for you to scream about, with all of our cast members – even the dead ones.”

This latest revelation on Instagram reignites hopes for the return of “Star,” with Daniels promising to create something special for the audience to enjoy.

While it has now been 5 years this May since the cancellation of Star hopefully we”ll have an update on its revival soon.
