Lena Waithe’s ‘Legacy Talk’ Returns for Season 2 With Phylicia Rashad, Ava DuVernay, Taraji P. Henson, and More

Lemonada Media and Hillman Grad are officially bringing Legacy Talk back for a second season. Hosted by Emmy-winning writer, producer, and actor Lena Waithe, the acclaimed podcast returns Tuesday, July 29, with new episodes dropping weekly.

In each episode, Waithe sits down with iconic Black creatives to revisit the pivotal projects that helped shape their careers—and the culture. These raw, revealing conversations offer a deep dive into the legacy-building moments that defined them, from standout performances to creative collaborations and behind-the-scenes breakthroughs.

Season two features an all-star lineup including Phylicia Rashad, Ava DuVernay, Taraji P. Henson, Loretta Devine, Vivica A. Fox, and Tisha Campbell—with a few surprise guests still under wraps.

More than just interviews, Legacy Talk is a living archive that honors the strength, stories, and cultural impact of Black storytellers in entertainment. Whether reflecting on game-changing roles or the roadblocks they’ve overcome, each guest opens up about what it truly means to build a legacy in Hollywood and beyond.

The series is produced by Waithe’s Hillman Grad banner, with Lemonada Media overseeing ad sales, marketing, and distribution. The partnership continues Lemonada’s expansion into bold, narrative-driven podcasts. The company, also behind Wiser Than Me with Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Fail Better with David Duchovny, signed a deal with Meghan Markle earlier this year to develop new shows.

Legacy Talk debuted its first season in November 2023, featuring powerful episodes with Sheryl Lee Ralph, Gina Prince-Bythewood, Jada Pinkett Smith, Mara Brock Akil, Jenifer Lewis, and Debbie Allen.
