Lifetime has unveiled the official trailer for He Wasn’t Man Enough, the first of two new original movies from Grammy winner Toni Braxton as part of her multi-picture deal with the network. Each film draws inspiration from Braxton’s hit songs, with He Wasn’t Man Enough taking direct cues from her 2000 chart-topper.

The film stars Braxton alongside Essence Atkins, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Thomas Cadrot in a story that blends heartbreak, healing, and sisterhood.

Premiere Date: November 22 at 8/7c as part of Lifetime’s Love of a Lifetime slate — click here for the full slate.

Synopsis:
Braxton plays Mel Montgomery, a bestselling author whose perfect life crumbles when she discovers her boyfriend Richard (Cadrot) has been lying to her. The betrayal deepens when Mel learns Richard is now engaged to Monica (Atkins), her estranged college friend. With the help of Candy (Brown), her loyal best friend, Mel confronts her past and joins forces with Monica in an empowering journey of resilience and solidarity.

What begins as heartbreak becomes a declaration of strength — proving Richard chose the wrong women to deceive. At its core, He Wasn’t Man Enough isn’t about revenge, but about women reclaiming their power and choosing each other.

Behind the Scenes:
The film is directed by Stan Brooks and executive produced by Toni Braxton, Tanya Lopez, Kenneth Crear, and Gemma Martini. It was written by Aireka Muse, Tara Knight, and Angela Nissel, and produced by Lighthouse Pictures.

He Wasn’t Man Enough marks the first installment in Braxton’s ongoing collaboration with Lifetime, continuing the network’s trend of turning iconic songs into cinematic storytelling — following similar projects developed with Mary J. Blige.
