Off the momentum of Lifetime’s Love of a Lifetime slate—which reached 5.6 million total viewers this past fall—the network has set the premiere date for Toni Braxton’s Breathe Again, the second film in its multi-picture partnership with the Grammy Award–winning artist.
Breathe Again debuts Saturday, January 24 at 8/7c, continuing Lifetime’s run of emotionally driven, character-centered storytelling led by Black women on and off screen.
Toni Braxton’s Breathe Again reunites Braxton with Essence Atkins who joined her in He Wasn’t Man Enough and also stars Cree Summer.
The film centers on Jennifer (Braxton), Vanessa (Summer), and Evelyn (Atkins)—three women whose lives intersect when they become contestants on a reality dating show, only to experience very public heartbreak. What begins as shared rejection evolves into an unexpected sisterhood that carries them from Los Angeles to a fresh start in Seattle.
As the women rebuild their lives, Jennifer reconnects with her voice as an artist, Vanessa reclaims her interior design business while reopening her heart, and Evelyn confronts grief by choosing joy and possibility. Together, they discover that while romance may be fleeting, friendship is the love story that endures.
The film launches Lifetime’s winter slate, which also includes Terry McMillan’s Tempted 2 Love—the sequel to 2024’s fan favorite Tempted by Love—starring Garcelle Beauvais and Boris Kodjoe, premiering Jnuary 31 at 8/7c. A special encore airing of an extended version of Terry McMillan’s His, Hers and Ours starring Taye Diggs and Lesley-Ann Brandt will follow on February 14 at 10/9c.
The film reunites the creative team behind Lifetime’s hit He Wasn’t Man Enough, with Toni Braxton, Tanya Lopez, and Kenneth Crear returning as executive producers alongside Howard Braunstein for Lifetime. Stan Brooks also reprises his role as director and executive producer.
With Breathe Again, Lifetime continues its commitment to stories centered on resilience, reinvention, and the power of women choosing one another—on their own terms.
