Aura Entertainment has released the official trailer for Code 3, an action comedy-drama about the unpredictable lives of paramedics. Directed by Christopher Leone (Parallel), the film is inspired by real stories from EMS professionals and hits theaters nationwide on September 12, 2025.
The movie follows Randy (Rainn Wilson), a burned-out paramedic on his final 24-hour shift, tasked with training his eager but inexperienced replacement (Lil Rel Howery). What begins as a routine night unravels into a citywide odyssey filled with chaos, gallows humor, and unexpected heart.
Joining Wilson and Howery are Aimee Carrero, Yvette Nicole Brown, Page Kennedy, Xolo Maridueña, Ayesha Harris, and Rob Riggle. The script, co-written by Leone and former paramedic Patrick Pianezza, draws from firsthand EMS experiences, lending the comedy-drama an authentic and emotional edge.
The trailer teases a mix of absurd emergencies, hard truths, and the human cost of life on the road with lights and sirens. From psychiatric calls to irreverent one-liners (“Shirt, no pants — that’s like Winnie the Pooh”), Code 3 balances its comedy with the weight of burnout and moral injury that EMS workers face.
The film first premiered at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival and is produced by Matt Smith, Andrew Calof, Lawrence Mattis, Paul Pianezza, and Justin Baldoni. Executive producers include Angela Cardon, Lil Rel Howery, Michael D. Jones, Steve Sarowitz, and Rainn Wilson.
