Malcolm D. Lee continues to expand his storytelling empire with Becoming Marlow Fin, a new drama in development at Peacock, based on the novel by Ellen Won Steil.
Set during an explosive primetime interview, the series follows global superstar Marlow Fin, whose mysterious life unravels in real time as she recounts the disappearance of her sister — and makes the public case for her own innocence as the prime suspect.
The adaptation is written and executive produced by Des Moran (Tiny Beautiful Things, Bel-Air), with Lee directing and executive producing through his Blackmaled Productions banner. Dominique Telson, Ellen Won Steil, and Michael Scott Allen also serve as executive producers.
Becoming Marlow Fin marks one of several projects Lee currently has in the works under his first-look deal with Universal Television. Known for The Best Man franchise, Girls Trip, and Night School, Lee has built a reputation for crafting culturally resonant stories that blend sharp humor, drama, and heart.
Alongside Becoming Marlow Fin, Lee is also developing Need to Know for NBC — a spy procedural starring and executive-produced by Taye Diggs — and an untitled 2026 feature starring Lynn Whitfield, Chloe Bailey, and Coco Jones. Lee recently ventured into publishing with his debut novel The Best Man: Unfinished Business, which continues the legacy of his celebrated film series.
