FX is heading back to the workplace — this time with a crew of movers and a comedy stacked with fresh and familiar faces.
Manny Montana (Ironheart, Good Girls) and comedian Tanael “TJ” Joachim have joined the cast of Movers, a new workplace comedy pilot from Reno 911! co-creator Robert Ben Garant and Cathy Shim. The project hails from 20th Television.
Also starring in the pilot are Garant and Shim themselves, alongside Maz Jobrani (Friday After Next), Darius Homayoun (Sex/Life), and WWE superstar Becky Lynch (real name Rebecca Quin).
Described as an improvised comedy, Movers revolves around the chaotic, codependent lives of a dysfunctional moving crew. The format taps into the mockumentary style Garant helped pioneer with Reno 911!, but this time swaps badge cams for dollies and boxes.
Garant and Shim co-created the pilot and will executive produce alongside Stacey Sher and Peter Principato, with Jonny Shipes (BMF: The Rise and Fall of a Hip-Hop Drug Empire) also on board as an EP.
Should FX order the pilot to series, Movers would mark a bold addition to their comedy slate, expanding their portfolio of smart, stylized workplace comedies with a multicultural edge.
No premiere date has been announced yet.
